It's a girl!

Patricia Grace was born early Tuesday morning. Weighing in at a nice 7 pounds 5 ounces. She has beautiful black hair and cute chubby cheeks. She looks a lot like her sister. We're all adjusting well.

waiting, food averesions and more

My due date was last Tuesday, but my little one has decided that it is not time for the big arrival. This has been the case with each of my children. Due dates come and go with me. Tabtiha keeps asking me when I'm going to go to the hospital. Some day soon, that's all I know. As of now, they're planning on inducing me Feb. 5.

My kids can be picky about food sometimes, which is normal, but I find their aversions rather interesting. Tabitha doesn't like anything messy or sticky. I can never imagine her eating a Cinnabon, even though she loves sweets. Every time we have pancakes she debates whether to have syrup on it or not. She likes the way syrup makes it taste, but she doesn't like the stickiness. I'd say that over 50% of the time she only goes with butter and no syrup. Seth, on the other hand, doesn't mind getting messy. What he doesn't like are things that crumble. Even though cookies are yummy, if he bites into it and the rest cracks in two, he will crumble the cookie and throw it on the floor crying. Muffins and cakes are no good for him.

The other week I bought the kids each a bouncy ball out of those quater machines you find in the grocery stores. Seth suddenly got attached to his this week. As you can imagine, it got lost about 50 times within hours. He lost it about three days ago and we didn't find it til yesterday. He did not let that thing out of his sight the rest of the day. You better believe that he even fell asleep with it last night!

This and that

Life is fun. I only have about a month left before our new little one arrives. I'm not at the huge stage yet, but moving around is getting tougher by the day. I tried to take a one hour nap yesterday, but Tabitha woke me up at least four times during my siesta.

Seth is learning a new word a day it seems. He's been taking off his pants recently. He points out his body parts when you ask him now. A week or so ago he had his 18 month check up. Everything is looking good. His height is around the 40th percentile, but his weight and head are still below the 5% mark. I did have the results from his MRI. Everything is normal. There was nothing of concern that the neurologist could talk to us about. I am so thankful to have two very smart children.

Tabitha has been disappointed lately. Every time we go to a store she wants me to buy her presents. She can't understand why I'm not getting her stuff for Christmas. Little does she know that I have quite a nice stash of stuff in the basement for the two of them, just waiting for Christmas day. It's been fun to watch Tabitha's imagination grow lately. A lot of time she and Seth get into their ships (laundry baskets), when Seth climbs out of his she says, AHH! Seth is in the water, you have to save him" or something to that effect. One time I asked her to get off of my bed, so I could make it and she said, "you want me to go in the sand?"

Our cookie baking has slowed down. I have about 15 batches in the freezer. I think that's pretty good for one year, don't you? Enoch is buying me a freezer for Christmas. I'm excited about that.

Dora and Boots

Throughout the day I look at my kids and chuckle. They both really resemble Dora and boots in so many ways. Their size differents, their features and the fact that they love the show.

The kids are doing well. Tabitha is still asking me why every chance she gets. She loves school and she would be upset if I told her she didn't have it any more, but she wants to know why she goes there all the time. She also wants to know why she can't eat lunch there with the other kids and why the other kids have to go their all the time. Why is one of the kids sometimes not nice to her and on and on. She refuses to take naps these days, but she still really needs one. By the time bedtime comes around, she's tired, cranky and extremely sensitive. When we leave the house these days, she wants to bring a bag and two babies. I wonder where she gets that idea?

Seth is growing nicely. He looks a lot bigger than he used, but I don't know how he's doing on his growth curve. He had his MRI the other week and I haven't heard any thing from the neurologist. I think that nothing is wrong with him. He's a total boy. Even when you see him playing with one of Tabitha's dolls or holding her purse, he still looks like a boy. He's talking more. His favorite word is still, "look". He tells me he has a poopy diaper by holding it and saying "look". He shows me that he dropped a box of cereal all over the floor, by running in the room and with a look of concern, pointing to the other room, he yells, "look"! He shows me that Tabitha is sleeping or that the tv is on, all with that one little word. Seth is understanding more. I asked him to give me his hand without giving him any gestures and he held out his hand right away. Yesterday I was explaining to Tabitha that I was going to rearrange the furniture in the family room. I was pointing at the different furniture and telling her where I was going to put it. I cannot possibly imagine that he understood what I was saying, but within seconds Seth was trying to pull a chair and grunting. He amazes me.

The little baby on the inside is still very active and growing. The movements feel bigger. When I walk around outside with the two kids and my pregnant belly I see people looking at me and it looks like many of them are thinking that I'm a little crazy.
